Frequently Asked Questions.

Where wisdom meets understanding, all things are possible. . .
What is Desidimor Nia?
Desidimor Nia is a free, play-by-post roleplaying game that appreciates all stages of writing experience. We strive for a level of freeform activity that is not often encouraged, meaning fewer rules but endless possibilities for plotting!
What does it mean that Desidimor Nia is 3 sites in 1?
Here at Desidimor Nia, we understand how many tastes exist in role play gaming- which is why we have tried to accommodate for all. Although mythical rpgs are on the rise, there still remains a large fan base for realistic rpgs and a separation between animal and human rpgs. The phrase 3 sites in 1 means that, while Desidimor Nia is a single rpg site, it is divided into realistic, mythical, and human areas where characters can choose to live the way they desire, without ever having to interact with characters that are not similar to them.
What is the setting of Desidimor Nia?
Desidimor Nia can best be described as a melting pot of movies such as Braveheart, Star Wars, Gangs of New York, Naruto, and Narnia- to name a few. Our time is a melding of medieval and futuristic, where heretics are as likely to be put under the guillotine as punished by the secret societies. Our cathedrals and thatched houses stand sentry next to steel bridges and ports for spacecraft. It is steampunk steeped with the rich traditions of the past.
What types of characters may be played?
Desidimor Nia is truly an "everything" role playing game. We have both mythical or realistic characters, and predator or prey animals. There are humans and "humanoids," animals and "animaloids," as well as anthropomorphs and just about anything your imagination can dream up. Mythical creatures (such as unicorns, dragons, etc.) do not have to follow traditional legends and one may choose to become an antlered, winged cheetah just as easily as a giraffe-necked, furry toad - it's up to you and the only limitation is your own imagination!
What is the rating of Desidimor Nia?
Based on rpgrating.com, Desidimor Nia uses a level 2 for language, sexual content, and violence. This means that swearing is generally permitted: however, the language cannot be used to severely abuse. Sexual content is permitted: references and writing about genitalia and sex acts are permitted, but explicit detail is not. Fade to black, or 'mature' tagging are recommended. Graphic violence is permitted: explicit description or in-game narration violence is allowed. Desidimor Nia also utilizes limited control, meaning that circumstances realistically beyond the control of your character (example: attempted force claiming, force breeding, kidnapping, arresting, etc.) will be played out and judged as successful or unsuccessful by moderation upon thread completion, much like a battle thread.
What is a "base species"?
A base species is the species that your character would be if all the bells and whistles were stripped away (which can happen in gameplay and hence, why there is a necessity for naming one). It is basically the creature you are beginning with that can be adorned and changed over the course of gameplay. For example: the base species of a unicorn would be a horse or pony, the base species of an anthropomorph, such as a werewolf, is always a human. There will be variations among mythical base species, however, and moderation can help you determine the best base species if you run into questions. For instance, a type of problem that can be run into is the dragon- whose base species could be a lizard, komodo dragon, wolf, or nearly any animal species depending on the final appearance.
How many traits may I choose for a character at joining?
Any number of traits, within reason, may be chosen upon joining. However, for every strength, a physical, mortal weakness that other characters may play upon must also be listed.
What are life points?
Life points are a fraction that are to be included in every character post and change over time. Life points are a symbol of how much life exists in a specific character. As in a video game, when the life points are full, the character's health is maximized. If the fraction declines to 0, the character has lost all life and has died. Life points are lost through battles, injuries, and accidents, and may be gained through quests, potions, blessings, and mini games (to name a few options). Most characters will have life points somewhere between maximum and 0. Life points may be given freely to other characters, but this will subtract life points from the giver.
Are females allowed the same rights as males?
Yes, females stand on equal footing with males, meaning that females may own realms/gangs, battle, and generally strive for any goal that a male could work towards. This does not mean that females cannot be conquered, but unless defeated or persuaded, females need not bow to any male.
Is there a minimum post length or word count?
No, there are no required post lengths or word counts; however, please keep in mind that effort and length are often rewarded in reply posts.
Do new characters have to be accepted before posting?
No; however, all characters, including new offspring, must be posted on the joining board and database before being played.
How does time pass: how long is a season, how long is a year, how must my character age?
Time is very fluid in Desidimor Nia. A season is generally 2-weeks in length while a year passes every 8-weeks (or 2-months). Characters may be aged forward as desired as long as they do not deviate too extremely from this pattern. A character should age at least 1 year if played for 365 days or one real life year.
Is there a time limit on how long a single character may be played?
No; however, the character should pass on at a realistic age, unless immortal. The character may then be brought back to life through quests, Colossus or Juggernauts, and other options available.
Is hogging allowed?
Yes. Any item of desire, be it realms, gangs, recruited characters, etc., may all be hogged without shame. Want to expand to rule the entire world of Desidimor Nia- GO FOR IT!
Are force claiming, force breeding, kidnapping, etc. allowed?
Yes and no. Yes, these type of actions are both allowed and encouraged, but no, not through god-moding without prior agreement. An attacker should initiate the action, whereupon the victim may respond with a counter attack or defense (if desired). The thread will be played out in the same manner as a battle post and judged by moderation as successful or unsuccessful on the part of the attacker. Failure to finish the thread by either attacker or victim automatically results in a win by the active player.
How long must a leader be absent before losing a realm or gang?
Unless posted as "away" on the appropriate board, a leader must post at least once per 2-week period to retain active status. If a leader is posted away on the appropriate board, but will be absent for more than 4-weeks, the leadership position is revoked. Posting as "on hiatus," even if this decision is later changed, revokes any leadership position immediately. Upon return, the position will not be freely returned, but must be regained through gameplay once more.
What is the difference between mating / bonding and breeding?
Breeding is simply the physical act of creating offspring. Mating / bonding occurs when a pair is drawn together as soul mates. Mating / bonding occur very rarely and cause the pair to be connected both mentally and physically- the thoughts and injuries of one individual are felt and heard telekinetically by the other. Character(s) may ask the Colossus or Juggernauts or Moderation to have a chance to become mated / bonded. Once mated / bonded, this is usually irreversible, and usually only happens once in a character's life.
When is breeding allowed?
Anytime, all year round.
Do offspring inherit traits from their parents?
Offspring, born, from either realistic or mythical parents or a combination of the two, may be born normal or altered. However, offspring may also be altered and adorned through game play, blessings, items purchased from the black market, etc.
After reaching a certain age, must offspring leave the realm or gang?
No, the decision to leave is up to the player of the offspring. If, however, a particular leader wishes this to be the rule, the offspring must go.
Do size limits exist?
Yes, although loosely. For a general rule, the smaller or larger a character exceeds beyond the standards for its base species, the weaker the character becomes. Realistic standards should be chosen for mythical creatures as true facts do not exist for them. For example: dragons should not exceed, at most, the size of a full grown elephant. Colossus and Juggernauts are almost always larger and more powerful than mortals and regular characters.
Where do breeding, battling, warfare, and stealing take place?
Breeding, battling, and warfare (strictly in-site) take place on any playing boards of the site- as in real life, we do not specify a single area for these to be contained within. Stealing via raid or kidnapping are also performed on any playing board; however, stealing via riddle takes place on its specified board in clandestine. Battling and warfare (with invading sister site characters) may take place on any playing board or on its specified board as wished.
What are Colossus? What are Juggernauts?
No one knows for certain but both are often vastly stronger, larger, and older than regular and mortal characters. Colossus are very similar to those found in the game "Shadow of Colossus." They are made of the earth, are ancient in age, and have powers and shifting forms to be able to walk amongst mortals largely undetected (much like the Greek gods of legend). Reproduction is almost always unsuccessful but in the case of a Colossus breeding with a mortal successfully, a Juggernaut is produced. Juggernauts almost always have powers, but to a much lower degree than a Colossus, and are both larger and more long-lived than mortals. They may have shifting forms to walk among mortals largely undetected.
Who can play Colossus, Juggernauts, and Secondary Characters? What are secondary characters?
Anyone and everyone. All that is asked is that once starting a thread, a player standing in for one of the above mentioned characters must finish the thread. This is to allow those with little time or a disinterest in being held to a posting regimen a chance to have fun at Desidimor Nia. Secondary characters are those present only for a short time and which relate to a current theme of Desidimor Nia. For instance, in The Hive challenges, a polar contest may have polar bears harassing the participating characters. Secondary characters do not require a lot of fleshing out or time in developing personalities. They are there to serve a purpose, which is usually to cause destruction, harm, or grant quests and then are gone. These make gameplay much more fun and spontaneous, but also require little time and effort on the part of volunteers playing them. All of these characters are meant to provide a boost of inspiration to our players and their writing!
